Established in 1978 by Gary Andrus, the expansive Pine Ridge estate spans 80 hectares, its roots firmly planted in the Stags Leap District amidst terraced hillside vineyards adorned by a ridge of majestic pine trees. Evolving over the years, Pine Ridge now boasts vineyards across five distinct Napa sub-zones: four in Stags Leap, three in Rutherford, three in Carneros, and one each in Howell Mountain and Oakville. This expansive diversity offers winemaker Michael Beaulac an extensive palette for crafting his exquisite Napa Cabernet.
Under Beaulac's stewardship, the vineyards are meticulously managed with a commitment to sustainability, coaxing out the fullest expression of terroir and grape character. The Napa Valley Cabernet, a blend that includes Petit Verdot, Tannat, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, sources its grapes from premier sites throughout the region. The closely spaced vines and precise vineyard practices contribute to the wine's vibrant, multi-dimensional flavor profile.
Following a rigorous selection process from Pine Ridge's top estate vineyards, particularly in Stags Leap District, Oakville, and Rutherford AVAs, the grapes are handpicked at night and undergo meticulous sorting before fermentation. A judicious combination of new American oak (30%) and neutral French oak (70%) barrels frames the wine's journey through 18 months of aging, preserving its freshness and elegance.
Delighting the senses, this deep ruby Cabernet offers inviting aromas of ripe blueberry, spiced plum, cinnamon, and vanilla. On the palate, layers of blueberry and ripe plum dance alongside subtle notes of cinnamon, leading to a lingering finish accented by velvety tannins, nuances of coconut, and hints of roasted espresso bean.
