Ferro China Bisleri is a historical digestive that was born in 1881 from an intuition of Felice Bisleri, an entrepreneur from Milan who initially proposed it as a tonic and digestive. A real panacea for body and mind.
It was treated almost like a medicine, so much so that Bisleri presented it to doctors and pharmacists accompanied by a brochure where he explained its medical principles and benefits. Over time, his notoriety grew, he met with great success and also spread abroad. Soon its use began to expand, men drank it after a meal to eliminate tiredness, children were given a drop to combat ailments, while women took it as an iron supplement.
Ferro China Bisleri returned to consumers in June 2020, when the Caffo Group, the historic Italian distributor of made in Italy liqueurs since 1915, acquired the brand. Ferro China is a piece of history of our country that has accompanied Italians around the world for years; for this reason Caffo has continued the production following the ancient recipe, still remained secret today.
Ferro China Bisleri is produced with cinchona bark, an infusion of calissaya bark and roots including gentian, bitter orange and quassium, with the addition of ammonium iron citrate. Its color is rather dark, with a decidedly intense flavour, it is a liqueur suitable for those who prefer bitters with great personality.
The company recommends its use as a digestive or in mixology; but those who want to continue consuming it as a tonic can enjoy it neat.
Boccaccio Cellars offers real time shipping rates at checkout. These are heavily subsidised rates directly from Australia Post and will vary depending on your postcode.
Unfortunately, due to the ever increasing costs of postage we are unable to offer free shipping any longer. Postal increases have seen the average box of wine range from $30-$60, which can represent up to 500% of the cost of the average bottle of wine.
Your postal costs are calculated on the following factors:
- Where in Australia you are shipping to (Where rural postcodes obviously attract a higher charge)
- What in Australia you are shipping (Beer and water for example, are calculated in real time without any additional subsidy. This is because the margins for these products are minimal). Dry goods attract a discounted flat fee of $12 per carton (Calculated by gross weight).
Pickups on all items are encouraged.
